Computer Home Care

My experience

I have been messing around with computers for many years, both professionally and for fun.

I used computers extensively while doing a PhD in hearing sciences at Cambridge. I discovered I really enjoyed helping other people with computer problems, and this led to a change of career after graduating.

Back in Belfast I worked for several years as a network and server engineer with Team Solutionz, designing and implementing IT solutions for a number of firms. I picked up several Microsoft Certified Professional qualifications along the way.

I am an enthusiastic supporter of the Open Source movement, which believes high quality software should be available free to all.

Outside work

I am originally from Derry, and moved back to Northern Ireland with my wife Claire after living in England for nearly ten years. When not at a computer, I volunteer with Bryson Charitable Group and Mencap, play the piano and am dragged on long walks in the countryside by Claire! I also established a chamber choir called Melisma (you can hear them on this website).
